Nightmare is a 2D sidescrolling stealth horror game that was developed in DigiPen's propietary engine ProjectFun Editor.
In Nightmare, the player has woken up from a nightmare, but the monsters have escaped the dream world and are lurking about the house. The player's goal is to escape from the house without being caught by the monsters. The player has the ability to hide from the monster's sight by using their blanket as well as objects throughout the environment. However, the player cannot hide forever, so they must run from the monsters. If a monster senses the player for too long, they will find them, filling up the monster's detection meter. If the meter is full, the player is caught and the game is over. If the player can escape the house without being caught, they've won.
This was the first game I made on my own at DigiPen. I wanted the game to have a child-like feel to it, which is why the player character is a child wrapped in a blanket as they hide from monsters that have escaped from the child's nightmare. The game was developed in approximately six weeks. I was the sole developer of the game, though I did seek outside help from professors and friends to complete tasks I was not able to figure out on my own.
